Graham preached under heavy anointing and burden, "The Danger of My Testimony".
Near the conclusion of the message, Graham asked Bruce Howell, the Director of
Foreign Missions, to make the altar call.
Howell invited men and women to come to the altar. But this altar call was not just to pray, but to commit. Commit to filling the shoes of retired missionary heroes such as Else Lund, Nona Freeman, and many others.
People flooded the altars to pray and to pledge to fill the shoes of these timeless missionaries who are no longer able to continue on the field. Many took from the altar an experience with God as well as a card to enroll in Associates in Missions: a short term missions program.
